title: Reminiscence

Today was kind of our last band practice with RGSSB. Well it wasn't really a band practice to start with, 'cause first we talked about Arts Fest with the teachers (I'm still quite dubious about the whole Arts Fest thing ): ), then was the announcement of Exco and then the informal handover of duties to our successors ie section talk haha. Jolyn and Yunshu weren't there! D: Anyway Yujia's the new SC and here's to celebrating 3 years of SC succession in the French Horn section! LOLL. Ok that was lame.

But our direct batch gave us hairbands ("Thank you for being a great, (head band) batch!") :D and yeah, it's a little saddening that my time in RGS band has come to an end so fast. At the end everything seems to have happened in the blink of an eye and I don't quite know what to make of it just yet and right now, just that even though it was pretty tiring and sometimes you just felt so shagged by the whole staying-back-till-past-6.30-and-reaching-home-at-8 and everything else, the whole 4 years were still worthwhile. Really, really, really worthwhile.

And to know that the part of you that once looked up to seniors with so much admiration and a kind of awe has been replaced by some sort of satisfaction that your juniors look at you in the same way is reallyquite a nice thing to know (:

It's really late now. I'm probably not in full blogging or emotional capacity, so I guess there's much more to be said which I can't say now. It might take time anyway. On another note, Mr Tan (our serious TTM math teacher) is now our form teacher! And Mr Hee is our CLET. But I am more than willing to give Mr Tan a chance. He's a nice person, and talking to him today was actually pretty interesting ;)

title: Please go away for a bit and leave me alone

Haha. Best thing: today during dinner I was talking about Rebecca being at the Liverpool vs. Singapore match. And my dad suddenly said that when he was in the US last week, someone had actually called him and said he'd won tickets to the match! (Reason being 'cause I'd bought a new pair of adidas track shoes a few weeks ago and so had participated in a lucky draw.) Being overseas, my dad wasn't really interested in that and he thought we wouldn't be too! *!!!!* HAHAHA. I mean, I'm not an ardent Liverpool fan or something (although I do like Fernando Torres :D), but how often would you expect to actually win those lucky draws?! It'd be quite exciting to have been there watching the match. Ha ha -.- Well it's ok la; Rebecca gave me some updates including Torres scoring a goal (: Lollll!

Anyway today I went for the US university fair at Suntec. I took this whole load of brochures and flyers so all I did was arrange them in alphabetical order of uni. I talked to this girl from Brown Uni who said that the US is a better choice than the UK 'cause the courses are much more flexible. What i understand is you get to choose what different modules you want as you go along unlike in the UK where everything is fixed. And she was from RGS too! :D I saw a few people I know too haha. Most of the booth people were pretty nice and helpful but there were a few who were a bit bo-chap or cocky. Irritating! But srsly, I have to start thinking about my future for real.

After that my mum and I were walking past HMV and they were having a pretty huge sale - a lot of things were going for really low prices man! So we bought a few dvds and cds. I took a gamble and bought Lady Gaga's new album (selling at only $11.90!) 'cause I haven't really heard all her songs properly yet and decided I like them. But yeah, cool (:

I'm feeling quite overwhelmed by the sudden influx of stuff that I have to do right now. In a way, I can't wait till we stand down from band, Lit poetry presentation is over and I can have a bit more time to concentrate on EYAs. And I'm still really disappointed about something I'd rather not talk about :/

title: To cool for school

Today was Racial Harmony Day. RHD. And it's always quite a big thing in RGS haha (: Almost everyone dresses up in some ethnic (or ethnic-inspired) costume and the resulting variety is really quite cool! It was quite a wacky day 'cause there were very few lessons and our class is so fun-loving (muahaha) that no one'll really take lessons seriously on this kinda day anyway. Hehheh >)

Chinese, Peranakan, Punjabi, Malay, Indonesian. 5 different costumes among 6 people WHOO! Lol.
On the track.
This is too cool not to post!
(:
Lisa really came as Euro trash! Complete with wig and all HAHAHA! Euro trash aside, everyone looked really cool! Of course, the full range of pictures is on Facebook (duh right; fb is everyone's photo portal!). And I am proud to/regret to say that what was meant to be a half-hour sleep turned into a 2-hour-long one even though I had my alarm right beside me. Literally. Oh yes and I finally started on SS PT. Awesome man! :P

title: Just for laughs, dudes

Haha Dr Ng showed this article to us during Chem the other day. The topic's Organic Chem btw. It's pretty lame but, I must say, quite clever. And cute LOLL :D

This is funny! ("him" referring to kinky old Prof Old Macdonald)
Himself! (As an organic compound)
His turkey,
his duck,
and his cow.
They've even been given common and full names. The article ends with this all-too-familiar line: If Old Macdonald had a lab: en-yn-en-yn-ol. LOLLL!

title: Fun

School was actually pretty fun today, with the exception of that horrible Lit FA of course. I shall not talk about it.

Yesterday was Anna's birthday and being sick (oh the irony of it!), she didn't come yesterday. So the surprise cake we'd bought on Wed stayed in the drinks uncle's fridge till recess today. When we surprised Anna with the awesome chocolate fudge cake whoo hoo! :D But she couldn't eat it! 'Cause she had stomach flu hahaha. :/ (She brought about a quarter of the cake back home btw (: )

SURPRISE(D)! Hahaha

The 5 of us who bought her the cake and one missing Deb!
Wholesomeness...
only to be devoured.
We were kinda late back to class. But Mr Hee helped us take this so ;)
I'm pretty shagged. And SS PT awaits! :P

title: I'm still afloat (for now)

Hello.

So far J block hasn't been too bad. It's actually quite cosy, just that it's (more than) a mile away from some venues like the science labs and the CLC.

Oh ya and my school shoes are finally becoming not-really-wearable anymore haha! 'Cause the soles are on the verge of breaking apart from the rest of the shoe. So I have to wear the Bata pair I don't really like :/

On another note, floorball today was quite fun! Just that I'll have to get used to holding the stick further away from me.

Band resumed today. (While all other CCAs still haven't; I am so confused as to what's going on.) But nevertheless we've only got about a month left!

H1N1 is coming creepily near. Abi's classmate or classmates came down with it. So now she's on LOA rawr! Haha :P

title: Puzzle pieces

I am feeling overwhelmed. I didn't go on the computer for 1 day and I had 61 emails in my inbox haha. We're moving to Block J. 'Cause of the demolition next door. How awesome.

Oh yeah and I watched Duplicity on Friday (: It was a pretty clever show with twists all the way till the end! And I loved all those quirky, witty lines coined by Clive Owens' character, Ray I-can't-remember-what. :D :D

And today during cell Belle said, "And Mrs Jalleh is so cool la..." blah blah and then I remembered that Mr Jalleh's wife teaches in KC and so I was like, "Eh yeah she's my teacher's wife!" Lol. The world is getting smaller and smaller; apparently he attends the same church as my aunt :/ During SPM my dad found him familiar and why? Because they both attended St. Pat's. And the list goes on... I'm serious. There are many other instances! HAHAHA.

It's late ah bye!

title: What life sometimes entails

Whoa I just finished ploughing through the 34-page-long transcript of PM Lee's 2006 national Day Rally speech -.- Mr Jalleh claimed it would take 10 minutes per article but I took at least 20. There's another article (PM Goh's 2002 speech) still waiting for me right here. Rawr!

I don't have band for this entire week and you can probably guess why. And this is the best thing: the canteen tables are now all isolated instead of joined together in long rows! Why? Social distancing. All within the same amount of space as before. Haha. A bit pointless right! And we were asked to separate our desks today as well, for the same reason :/

Anyway I made a trip to Jurong on Sunday to buy tuning slide grease (after ages!!!) from Band World in IMM. I tell you, that place is horrible. It's like a bigger, more complex version of Tampines Mall where I couldn't even find the Sweettalk despite asking the info counter for directions. Haha. It's noisy, full of small kids screaming unearthly-sounding screams and extremely crowded. And I came away feeling IMMensely traumatised lolll.

title: A volley of balls in Sentosa

Today was fun: I went to watch AYG Beach Volleyball Prelims with Joni in the morning :D It was quite an eye-opening experience because this is the first time I watched this sort of games live. The weather was beautiful too man - perfect for a game of volleyball on the beach.

Our first glimpse of the various courts at Siloso
and the players warming up.
The first match we watched was between Indonesia and Bahrain (Indonesia: white top and red shorts; Bahrain: vice versa) which Indonesia won. This was in the only main court with spectator stands and a commentator. Their sets had some really good spikes and brilliant blocks :D
Ah I'm so annoyed that I missed the ball in this shot by that little bit (edge of the ball's at the top btw). That was a nice jump isn't it?
The AYG volunteers doing one of the sai gang jobs: evening out the sand.
2 nice serves in the Kazakhstan vs. Sri Lanka game which was in one of the adjoining courts. I didn't know Kazakhstan people were ang moh-ish! Anyway, I'm not very sure which side won because we went for free Milo in the middle of it hehheh :D
(Again, here, my phototaking skills fail me ):)
Everytime it's one side's turn to serve the person in front'll make this finger thing behind his back to the other player. It's probably some signal thing about the opponent's tactics or something. Cool.
The Kazakhstan side performing a spike!
The next game we watched back in the main court was Chinese Taipei (ie Taiwan la. Dunno why thye're called that man!) vs Yemen. Their game was nice to watch too, although I was spending a lot of time trying to snap pictures ): And Joni was like, "Ooh, Taiwanese boys!" Hahahah. It'd have been nice if we'd gotten to watch Japan or Korea play though. Taiwan won I think.

Going down...
so that teammate can dig the ball.
Victory on one side but disappointment on the other as Taiwan scores a point.
A spike-block thing happening.
Hahaha same position.

Taiwanese boy serving (haha Joni...)
A picture with the AYG mascot Frasia. Note that his name has Asia in it -.- Lame right.
And a picture with the courts and beach in the background. We asked one of the AYG volunteers to help us take this picture. After that this guy (we had asked him where the free Milo was earlier) said he wanted a picture with us -.- His friend was like, "I tell your girlfriend ah." So weirddd.
It was good that I still managed to get some quite okay pictures considering my camera was laggy and had a mind of its own 'cause it's a few years old and the electronics are going a little heywire. It was fun! A good break off from school. Went for cell after that, so I couldn't watch the afternoon segment of the games ): ):
